Strongly wanted and commissioned by Maria Theresa of Austria between 1700 and 1800, the Pinacoteca is located inside an ancient fourteenth-century convent in the Brera district of Milan. In the building you can also find the National Library Braidense, the Astronomical Observatory, the Botanic Gardens and the Institute of Arts and Science.
In the Pinacoteca rooms you can admire more than 400 works from the fourteenth century to the XX century Italian avant-garde. Masterpieces of Italian art from Raffaello to Caravaggio, from Mantegna to Bellini, from Canaletto to Fattori, Morandi and Modigliani.
