The Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan

The Pinacoteca Ambrosiana is a museum of Milan, strictly connected to the near Ambrosiana Library. This institution was founded by bishop Federico Borromeo in 1618, its purpose was to ensure free cultural learning to those who had artistic and intellectual attitudes. Also a painting academy and a sculpture academy were created.

In the Pinacoteca you can find and visit nowadays works and masterpieces from the Federico Borromeo collection, among them paintings of artists such as Leonardo, Botticelli, Bramantino, Bergognone, Bernardino Luini, Tiziano, Jacopo Bassano, Moretto, Caravaggio, Morazzone, Daniele Crespi, Andrea Appiani, Francesco Hayez.
